About me
Welcome
I am a professional shipwright/ boatwright with over 25 years of experience!
My name is Brent Wagner and I grew up on and around Barnegat Bay, New Jersey where I developed a love of the water and sailing. After earning a bachelors in history from the University of Rhode Island, I went and did the only logical thing- started working on classic wooden boats!
Small company...
I started at deRouville's Boat Shop in 1998, painting bottoms and doing the grunt work. Over the years, I learned and developed skills in woodworking, finishing, spar building, and rigging. When I left in 2021, I was the head spar builder and rigger, as well as the yard manager (storage). It is always my goal to continue to add to my skills and knowledge. I now apply those skills as the Harbor Shipwright, bringing my skills and knowledge to you.
Life on the Water
I started sailing from a very young age with my family, and continued to race sailing competively for over 30 years. From Key West to Maine, I raced modern and classic sailboats. I spent many years involed in the Barnegat Bay A-Cats, racing, building, and maintaining these unique and beautiful craft.
